Ergo Shedding Blade is a highly effective, dual-configuration grooming tool designed to strip loose, dead fur and manage seasonal shedding. It is popular across the UK for short, smooth, and wiry-coated dog breeds.
Key Features
-
- Double-Sided Design: The tempered steel loop features two distinct sizes of teeth. Small, shallow teeth target shorter coats, while the larger, serrated teeth tackle thicker or wiry coats.
- Dual-Configuration Use:
-
- Closed (Looped): Keeps the blade in a compact loop, perfect for small dogs or targeted areas like legs and face.
- Open (Straight): The handles pull apart to flatten the blade out to a length of 41cm, allowing you to quickly sweep over broad sections like the dog’s back.
-
- Ergonomic Handle: Features a moulded, comfort-grip handle designed to reduce hand fatigue and prevent slipping during extensive grooming sessions.
- Razor-Free Security: The blade uses shallow, spiked teeth to pull away loose fur from the undercoat without cutting the guard hairs or scratching the skin.
Suitable Coat Types
-
- Smooth & Short Coats (e.g., Labradors, Pugs, Pointers).
- Wiry Coats (e.g., Terriers, Schnauzers).
- Thick Undercoats (e.g., German Shepherds).
- Note: It is not recommended for dogs with long, silky fur or pets suffering from sensitive skin conditions.
How to Use It
- Direction: Always draw the tool gently down the coat in the exact direction of hair growth.
- Pressure: Start with incredibly light pressure. If your pet is relaxed and enjoying the sensation, you can slowly apply a little more pressure to catch deeper undercoat fur.
- Finish: Recommend following up the blade work with a standard brush or hand groom to sweep away the loose surface hair you have pulled up.
